Alec's video among the finalists of the AITF Summit Video Competition

Congratulations to Alec. Alec's video is listed as one of the finalists of the AITF Summit Student Video competition. His video describes a multi-facet-based sensor web browser, GeoCENS Sensorweb Pivot Viewer. You can find his video below. Other finalists' videos can be found here. Winners of the competition will be announced at this year's AITF Summit.

A JNCA paper accepted

Our paper titled "Real Time Query Propagation Strategies with Lightweigth Coordination Calculus for Ad Hoc Networks of Geospatial Databases" is accepted by the Journal of Network and Computer Applications published by Elsevier. Congratulations to Dr. Bakillah.

Sensor Web for Internet of Things

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC(R)) announced the formation of a new OGC(R) Technical Committee Standards Working Group (SWG) to advance the candidate OGC Internet of Things REST API (Sensor Web for IoT) Standard. The OGC members invite the public to comment on the Sensor Web for IoT SWG charter (https://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/49608) and will consider comments received before 10 August 2012. SWE2012

Submit a paper to SWE2012!! This year the workshop will be part of the ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2012, to be held on November 6th 2012 at Redondo Beach, California, USA. SWE2012 papers will be part of the ACMGIS 2012 proceedings, and be available in ACM digital library. Abstract due August 3rd and full paper due August 10th 2012. Join us in California this year!!

Our W2GIS paper is invited to a special issue of JOSIS

Our W2GIS paper titled "Discovering Sensor Services with Social Network Analysis and Expanded SWQRL Querying" is invited to a special issue of Journal of Spatial Information Science (JOSIS).

OGC Sensor Web Interface for Internet of Things Special Working Group (Now Sensor Web for IoT SWG)

In order to enable interoperability among Internet of Things devices, a new Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Technical Committee Standards Working Group is being formed. The new SWG is called the Sensor Web interface for the Internet of Things (SWE for IoT) Standards Working Group (SWG). The SWE for IoT SWG should be officially formed in June 2012 at the OGC Technical Committee meeting in Exeter, UK. Anyone who is interested and willing to contribute to such an exciting working group is very welcome to join the discussion.

A SeCoGIS 2012 paper accepted

Our paper titled "Enriched SQWRL Reasoning Engine in Support of Geospatial Data Retrieval from Multiple and Complementary Sources" is accepted by the 6th International Workshop on Semantic and Conceptual Issues in GIS, part of the 31st International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER 2012). The acceptance rate of the workshop this year is 40%.

Web and Wireless GIS 2013 in Banff, Canada

We are excited to announce that our lab is organizing the next Web and Wireless GIS conference (W2GIS 2013). It will be held in Banff Canada next April. More information will be available soon.
