We will demonstrate TrafficPulse and GeoCENS at the Canadian Geomatics Conference

We will demonstrate our latest prototypes of TrafficPulse and GeoCENS at the first Canadian Geomatics Conference / ISPRS TC I Symposium 2010.

David presented GeoCENS at the OGC TC June 2010 Meeting at NOAA.

David flew to Silver Spring, and presented the latest progress of the GeoCENS project at the OGC TC June 2010 Meeting at NOAA. The presentation was on June 15th.

Alec Huang received iCore Graduate Student Scholarship in Information and Communication Technologies

Congratulations!!  Alec Huang received the iCore Graduate Student Scholarship in Information and Communication Technologies.  His research proposal title is: A scalable decentralized geographical information system architecture for the Worldwide sensor web: a hybrid peer-to-peer and cloud computing approach.

Dr. Liang is invited to attend MSR Faculty Summit 2010

Dr. Steve Liang is invited to attend the Microsoft Research Faculty Summit 2010.

GeoCENS SOS passed OGC SOS compliance test

Our GeoCENS Sensor Observation Service (SOS) server passed the OGC SOS compliance test. To our best knowledge, this makes our server implementation one of the two SOS compliant servers available (the other one is 52North). We would like to thank for David's hard working!!  And we will publish some performance evaluation results soon. Make sure you visit this page again soon!!

More details about the test can be found here: http://cite.opengeospatial.org/test_engine/sos/1.0.0

Welcome Adam and Tan

Tan Varma and Adam Hussein joined us today as summer internship students. They received funding supports from both NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award (USRA) and GeoSensor Web Lab.  They will be working on integrating high resolution satellite images and high resolution LiDAR Digital Elevation Models with our Sensor Web virtual globe system.

Dr. Liang was invited to teach a technical tutorial on WebGIS at the SaudiGIS 2010 Conference

Dr. Steve Liang attended the SaudiGIS 2010 conference, and taught a technical tutorial on WebGIS.  It was great to meet some old friends there, and also great to know some new friends in the region.

Dr. Liang attends Dagstuhl Seminar on Computational Transportation Science

Dr. Steve Liang attends Dagstuhl seminar on Computational Transportation Science from March 21~March 26. It's an honor to be invited to this seminar. Looking forward to this five days intensive discussions and knowledge exchanges!!

Welcome Dr. DongWoo Lee

Welcome Dr. DongWoo Lee.  We are very happy to have Dr. Lee joining our group.  Dr. Lee will bring us lots experiences on High Performance Computing (HPC), GRID, Cloud Computing, Data Visualization, and Social Network Analysis.  Dr. Lee will be mainly working on the GeoCENS project as well as the TrafficPulse project.
