Call for Participation and First Circular Letter
The term of sensor orientation represents the determination of a sensor or sensor-system orientation parameters, i.e., in a wide sense its position, velocity and attitude. The quality and reliability of sensor orientation has gained on importance with the increased speed of mapping, shorter production cycle of mapping products, economical pressure, and finally with the wide spread out of the active and passive digital imaging sensors. Our working group deals with the task of sensor orientation, both in real-time and off-line. Today, orientation and navigation parameters are derived from multiple sensor configurations in a number of ways. Data integration from various, usually redundant or at least partially redundant sensors, allows for a more precise, accurate, reliable, less expensive and faster sensors orientation. We focuses on promoting the goals of the WG as expressed in its terms of reference by means of
various activities and events and in co-operation with ISPRS, other national and international organizations and Geomatics-related companies.
In addition, we advise you to have a look at our WEB page at

Dear colleague,
On behalf of the Scientific Committee of the EuroCOW 2010: the Calibration and Orientation Workshop (http://www.ideg.es/page.php?id=787), we are pleased to announce the opening of the abstracts reception period.
The EuroCOW 2010 will be held from February 10 to February 12, 2010 at the Institute of Geomatics, located in the Mediterranean Technology Park (PMT), Castelldefels (20 km south from downtown Barcelona).
The EuroCOW is a biennial event organized by the Institute of Geomatics on behalf of the EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research) Commission I and of our Working Group 1.5 “Integrated Systems for Sensor Georeferencing and Navigation”.
The organizers, aware of the current high competitiveness in the area, are trying to set the conditions for a useful, informative and informal three-day meeting in a relaxed atmosphere, and expect to attract the real experts with hands-on experience on the subject. For this
edition, the Workshop topics are:
- Orientation and calibration of sensors
- Orientation and calibration of multi-sensor systems
- Standardization, certification and operational performance
- GNSS navigation and positioning
- INS/GNSS positioning, velocity and attitude determination
- Sensor navigation and orientation in difficult environments
Important dates and deadlines are::
We look forward to your participation.
Best regards,
Ismael Colomina and Eva Hernández
